  • Social network sites are like big rooms, packed with people who are shouting out there say, and so nobody is being heard in the resulting noise (but the room owners make big money from advertisements on the walls, seen by all).
  • E-mail campaigns are nowadays treated as spam and most of those e-mails disappear in the spam filters of free-servers. What yet comes through, is manually deleted unread by the recipients, who only get annoyed by them.
  • Search engines can't place thousands of equally relevant websites in the top 40, let alone in the top 10 of search results. They are rotated instead, so your site can be in the top for a short time, while most of the time it is nowhere to be found, regardless how much SEO you do.
  • Pay-for-click and other paid promotions, usually cost you more money than what you make from it. Besides, how can you compete in SEngines, if others with more money than you, push their less relevant stuff ahead of your stuff?
In short, all promotion providers make sure money, their clients at  best a little, who simply have to "believe" and pay. Web promotion, SEO and social networking, has become a "religion", bringing big money to the few, from the many working for them for free.
Instead of on a social network site, where your subscribed "friends" use your wall-page to post their own interests, as you do on theirs (and thus nobody gets anywhere), you could better have it on your own website, that then promotes your interests only. The big problem then is how make it to be found by your target public .... without having to pay more for it than what you make (!)
